3D Printing with Minecraft - This 8-Bit Life

Leland Flynn

Two students from MIT’s MediaLab have put together a Python Script that lets you print any 3D object that you can make in Minecraft! They use a particular order of blocks as a keystome to sort of border an object, then the python script looks for everything that exists within those boundaries and generates a .stl file. The .stl is then processed by the 3D printer of your choosing to build the object in meatspace! Awesome! Now Minecraft can be used as a simple 3D modeling tool for 3D printing! Check the video below and hit this link to get the python script!
