Amazingly High-Res 3D printer Gets a Crowdfunding Campaign - This 8-Bit Life

Leland Flynn

3D Printed Ball

I’ve reported on Junior Veloso’s amazingly accurate 3D printer before. Veloso’s take on 3D printing is a bit different from more traditional kit 3D printers that use an extrusion process to produce objects. His device uses UV light and a UV reactive resin to essentially pull a solid object out of a pool of the stuff. At the time and since then he has shared very little information about his design. Many people speculated that he might be shopping the concept around to a few companies but all of sudden he has shown up with a IndieGoGo campaign to crowdfund his design!

For those that don’t know, IndieGogo is a more open crowdfunding site very similar to Kickstarter. The major difference being that there is no approval process and even if a project does not get fully funded the campaign runner can still collect what they’ve earned minus a percentage for IndieGogo themselves. Veloso has a bunch of contributor incentives for his campaign, for example someone who donates $159 will get a disc in the mail with all of the plans to build one of his printers, for about $3,999 a contributor will get a complete kit with all parts needed and 1 Kg of the UV resin! The price might be a bit steep but after you see the kind of detail that this printer can achieve you may find yourself seriously considering it.

To see this printer in action check out the video below.

I’m really excited for this and I think I might at least have to go in on the disc of info. Are you guys interested in supporting this? Let us know what you think in the comments!
