Amazon enters the Tablet Wars - This 8-Bit Life

Leland Flynn

Today Amazon has finally announced their official entry into the tablet market with a new device called the Kindle Fire. Judging by the hardware specs and the price they are looking to be seriously competitive as well. Along with a 7″ touch screen the Fire will also sport a Dual-Core Processor, and an 8 hour battery life! It looks like the onboard storage is one place that they are keeping their costs down, at 8GB some users will blow through that in a week. Luckily Amazon is also offering Fire users unlimited cloud based storage.

This has been a long time coming and I have to say I am very excited. Since I first picked up a Nook Color I have wondered what we might see as a response from Amazon, But I never expected specs like this at a $199 price-point. I cannot wait to test one out!
