Candy Painted Classics - This 8-Bit Life

Leland Flynn

The beautiful work of deviantART user Zoki64 was recently brought to my attention. I’ve seen plenty of custom painted controllers and consoles over the years. I was a long time lurker and occasional contributor to the acidmods forum a while back (shout-outs to folklord). I mostly worked on PSP’s and the odd console here or there but I really haven’t seen any paint jobs that can compare to this person’s work.

One look at the Starfox tribute N64 above and you can tell that this person has a real love for these older consoles and their games. Every piece I have seen so far shows a real eye for detail, simplicity, and craftsmanship. His Youtube channel is chock full of other examples of his work as well. He has so many that are so well done it is hard to pick a favorite, but I think I have to go with the Legend of Zelda themed piece below.

I hope to get in touch with him at some point to see if he’ll do┬ácommissioned work. I have a SNES hanging around in my collection that is begging for a Super Metroid paint job!

For more of Zoki’s work check out his deviantART page here and his Youtube page here.
