Razer, a prominent gaming peripheral company has just announced that they will be producing a top-of-the-line gaming laptop. We’ve got some basic details on the specs and a few tantalizing images of this gorgeous looking machine, the Razer Blade. Here’s a run down of what we can expect:
2.8GHz Intel Core i7 2640M Processor
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Memory
17.3″ LED Backlit Display (1920×1080)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with NVIDIA Optimus Technology
2GB Dedicated GDDR5 Video Memory
Built-in HD Webcam
Integrated 60Wh Battery
320GB 7200rpm SATA HDD
Wireless Network 802.11 b/g/n Compatible
16.81″ (Width) x 10.9″ (Depth) x 0.88″ (Height); 6.97lbs (Weight)
Looking at these specs I can’t find a single point to argue with. Everything looks like this will shape up to be a quality gaming machine, and at .88″ thick I am finding myself wanting one of these more than the MacBook Airs that I’ve been lusting after recently. My only concern is the projected price. At $2800 you’re looking at a pretty steep price but that being said it looks like you’re getting your money’s worth.
Design with the Gamer in Mind
Looking at this image I can already tell what is standing out to you, the trackpad. Or rather the slick looking multi-touch, 480 x 800 LCD trackpad! That’s right, the mouse on this laptop is not only offset to the right of the keyboard (making for a more comfortable gaming experience) but it’s also an independent LCD! And it does exactly what you’d want it to, it displays extra in-game information. You’re also treated to a backlit keyboard and 10 programmable OLED hotkeys.
I absolutely love the design of this laptop, it looks well crafted and well layed out with its core audience in mind. I can’t wait to see one in person.
