Spiritual Successor to C&C Renegade, Renegade X Drops Tomorrow - This 8-Bit Life

Leland Flynn

Renegade X: Black Dawn is meant to be a spiritual successor to 2002’s Command & Conquer Renegade. The original took the tried and true RTS formula that its developer, the now defunct Westwood Games, and mixed it with FPS gameplay. There was not much similar to this game at the time, it was a true novelty. It’s reception by reviewers and fans was all over the map. I for one loved it and have very fond memories of playing it at LAN parties as a kid.

The Original C&C Renegade

Enter Totem Arts some 10 years later. The team seem to have a real love for the source material and have worked hard to make an updated version of something that they really care about. The dev team is calling this initial release a ‘mini campaign’ citing that this is just a stepping stone to a full release. The game is based on the Unreal Development Kit and it definitely shows in the videos. Everything looks great. I can’t wait to get this downloaded and installed tomorrow. It should be great.

Until the game releases you can feast your eyes on the video below and visit the Renegade X website for more info.
